It looks like Square Enix’s Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is heading to iOS devices. Not long after a website teasing the game, which was previously available for the Nintendo 3DS, went live, speculation began that it could be an iOS version. Turns out, fans could be right.
Square Enix hasn’t made any official announcement yet, but the New Zealand iTunes page seems to have jumped the gun. It is believed the game will launch for free and include a few songs. For additional song choices, you’ll likely have to pay per song.
As for the changes, it looks like the EMS (Event Music Stages) have been cut, likely to save space. The iOS version will also include a revamped quest mode called Quest Medley which will randomly choose one BMS (battle) and FMS (field), a random difficulty, and various rewards for completing them.
There’s currently no listing on the North American iTunes page yet, but I can’t imagine it will be long before that changes. The site lists Theatrhythm as compatible with the iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.
