The Walking Dead: Assault publisher, Skybound, is teaming with Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead, for a special Christmas treat that will challenge players of the recently released iOS game. In celebration of the forthcoming apocalypse (as predicted by the Mayans), Kirkman will be hosting a “9 days of the Apocalypse” event.
Every day, from today until December 21st, Kirkman will assign a new daily challenge for players of The Walking Dead: Assault. Those interested can look to Kirkman’s Twitter at 11am PST for the day’s challenge. Winners of each challenge will receive prizes that will be kept secret until the challenge is made, though some of them will be special items you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
The Walking Dead: Assault was release on November 30th for iOS devices. The game is similar to that of the graphic novel, in that it begins when Sheriff Rick Grimes awakens disoriented in the hospital. The player experiences those same moments as Rick, revisiting the early days through Atlanta, the campsite, and many other locations.
Throughout the game, you’ll form teams of four, chosen from the show’s iconic cast of characters such as Rick, Lori, Carl, Shane, Glenn, and Dale. Each character has unique abilities that will be useful while completing bonus objectives that unlock exclusive content from The Walking Dead including artwork, wallpapers, trivia, and Game Center achievements.
Today’s challenge tasked players with tweeting a pic of your favorite squad survivors from The Walking Dead: Assault. The winner received a Walking Dead hate, Blood logo shirt, and signed copy of issue #100. Be sure to check back tomorrow for the next challenge.
