Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and the LEGO Group have announced LEGO Legends of Chima, a new series of games set to release throughout 2013. LEGO Legends of Chima is a fantasy adventure set in land inhabited by different magical animal tribes — like the Lion, Eagle, Gorilla and Crocodile — and tells the classic story of good and evil, friendship and family. Three new video games will each provide an “entirely unique and exciting adventure that builds to the next experience”, while complementing the just announced LEGO Legends of Chima universe of products, which range from construction sets to TV content and more.
The first of the three games is LEGO Legends of Chima: Speedorz, which is playable today on LEGO.com and releases tomorrow, January 3, on iOS devices. Produced by TT Games and 4T2, Speedorz is a racing mini-game where players race against famous Chima characters, battle through iconic Chima locations, and unleash powerful boosts. There’s unlockables and rewards to customize your characters.
The second game, LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey, will be released in summer 2013 for the Nintendo 3Ds and PS Vita. This game, developed by TT Games, has players “”embark on an amazing adventure into the world of Chima where the brave warrior Laval and his allies are called upon to fight for justice.” The type of gameplay wasn’t detailed, but you can probably expect it to make use of touch controls and have an action-adventure feel to it.
The last game is LEGO Legends of Chima Online and will release in autumn 2013. This free-to-play, online world will provide kid swith a safe and incredibly immersive connected game experience. Players will build and customize their kingdom in the world of Chima, explore massive environments, uncover secrets and treasures, earn rewards, build weapons and take on missions to help Lavel and his friends.
All three of the games are connected and share a reward system called The Chima Vault, which can be accessed by players via LEGO.com/chima. While playing LEGO Legends of Chima: Speedorz and LEGO Legends of Chima: Laval’s Journey, players will be able to earn points which can be redeemed through the Vault for a variety of unique content that players can use to enhance their experience in LEGO Legends of Chima Online.
“We are doing something innovative with LEGO Legends of Chima by making three distinct video game experiences on a variety of platforms,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “By creating multiple LEGO video game experiences for one brand, we are catering to today’s diverse gaming community, as well as establish a rewards system for players of all three games.”
