For those of you unable to wait until the end of the month for Stranger Things Season 2, you can return to Hawkins, Indiana right now courtesy of a brand new mobile game.
An accompanying Stranger Things game has launched today for free (with no microtransactions!) on the App Store and Google Play Store.
The game has a visual style reminiscent of 80’s action adventure titles, complete with pixel art and a chiptune soundtrack.
You’ll be able to play as many of the show’s characters, including Hopper, Nancy and the boys, all who have unique abilities used for solving puzzles. Lucas, for instance, can nail anything with his Wrist Rocket, while Nancy has an entire collection of bats to swing.
You’ll also be visiting many of the locations from the show, including Mirkwood Forest, Hawkins Lab, and the Upside-Down.
Collectibles, like Eggos and Gnomes, are also scattered throughout the environment, and according to the official blurb, they’ll unlock secret content… maybe you can find Barb!
“Completionist?” reads the game’s App Store description. “Collect all the Eggos and Gnomes. Complete the full VHS library. Check off all the achievements. Who knows what secret characters or exclusive, never-before-seen-footage- of-Season-2 they might unlock …”
There are two difficulties to play on, Normal and Classic, for those who enjoy the unforgiving difficulty of old-school games.
While Stranger Things: The Game is available today, a mysterious update will release on October 27th to coincide with the Season 2 debut.
