For a long time, Clash of Clans players have clamored for some sort of global chat functionality. In the latest Q&A, Supercell has addressed the subject — acknowledging it’s something they’ve talked about. But, there’s a problem.
“…the problem is so many on the team have mixed feelings about it. Some want to get rid of it, others want to improve it because it’s really the only in-game way of recruiting people.”
Unfortunately, no decision on global chat has been made, but the good news is that it’s “on the agenda” for the next team meeting.
As for Co-leader chat, another feature longed for by players, well, things are a bit brighter for that. Supercell’s developers “love” the idea, but they aren’t sure how to implement it — mostly due to the size of storing more messages for legal reasons and moderation.
As Supercell explained, “Every single message is recorded due to legal reasons, and another chat is just more messages to store. So in short, the moderation of such a thing would be tricky, but also not ruled out now.”
So for now, it looks like we could get Co-leader chat before some sort of global chat, but baby steps!
