Team Meat has announced Super Meat Boy: Forever will be coming to phones and tablets sometime next year.
In a post during PAX Prime, the developer explained that their goal was to design a new full length platformer for touch devices “from the ground up to avoid tacking bad controls on an existing design.”
“We want to make something that embodies the original Super Meat Boy but is designed around a simple yet intuitive control scheme allowing for pin point accuracy and surprisingly deep controls without the use of multiple buttons/analog sticks.”
Super Meat Boy: Forever is not an endless runner, according to Team Meat, but will feature an endless mode with online high scores and daily runs. It will also hav ea fully story, 6 chapters, and twice as many bosses as were in the original game. Other features including a randomly generated level structure, and a dark world featuring dark warp zones, bosses, with new playable indie game characters.
Team Meat also assured gamers that Super Meat Boy: Forever will not use “abusive [microtransaction] tactics to drain your wallet and cheapn the game experience.” This is also not a simple port of Super Meat Boy, nor a one-button game.
Super Meat Boy: Forever is only two months into development, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye on its progress.
