Lives in Candy Crush Saga allow you to play the game. Without them, you can not play. By default, each player is given five lives. If you fail to meet the objective of the level or fail to meet the minimum score, you lose a life and must try again (only if you have lives stored). Lives are regained at the rate of one every 30 minutes, so if you lose all five, you must wait for them to be restored (either by waiting the required time, getting extra lives as gifts from friends, or through in-app purchase).
Because Candy Crush Saga is free-to-play, it relies on this life system as a way for people to make purchases to continue their play — but there are a total of four ways (five if you “cheat”) to get new lives. Here they are:
If you don’t want to bother your friends or spend money, the only thing you can do is wait. Put the game down and do something else for a bit (at least 30 minutes). One life is restored every 30 minutes. All you need is one life to try the level again. Remember, you can only store five lives at once so make sure you play after 2 1/2 hours to get the most out of them.
Ask your Facebook Friends
Logging into Candy Crush with your Facebook isn’t a requirement, but doing so allows you to ask (or annoy) your friends for lives. Odds are, since everyone is playing this game, they’ll be kind enough to help you (make sure you return the favor, though!). Click the heart icon on the top left corner of the screen, then select the Ask Friends option.
Buy More Lives
If you don’t mind spending a little cash, you can buy five additional lives for $0.99 through the game’s store. It’s pretty easy to blow through lives, so make sure you’re keeping track of how much you are spending. It’s quite easy to rack up a giant bill.
Pick Up The Charm Of Life
Available in the Yeti Shop, the Charm of Lives increases the maximum number of lives from 5 to 8, which means that the game will regenerate up to 8 lives per day. You will also get 8 lives if you buy a full life refill while having the Charm if Life. While it’ll likely save you money in the long run, the Charm of Life does cost a hefty $16.99.
The “Cheating” Kotaku Approach (setting your clock ahead)
As made public by Kotaku back in January (not sure if it still works today), but it’s been said you can bypass the five life limit by manually adjusting your iOS and Android internal clock. By pushing the time forward, the game thinks you’ve waited the required time and will replenish your lives. Warning: when setting your clock back to the normal date, your life timer has “several thousand” hours on it. You’ll have to remove the app, re-install it, and you’re apparently good to go again.
